Released March 10, 2023, T. Nguyen’s “Unknowable” EP dives deep into the non-physical realm of sound. This Garage House collection features three new tracks and their radio edits—combining driving basslines, garage shuffles reminiscent of DJ Zinc’s self-proclaimed “crack house,” UK Funky kick patterns, and samples unearthed from the 2000’s garage era.

Fourth State opens the EP with a euphoric five-note trance-like arpeggio and chorded synth stabs, introducing a low, rolling bassline. The groove builds slowly, holding tension until three and a half minutes in, all while shimmering with high-energy mids and highs. This title track nods to the “fourth state” of consciousness—waking, sleeping, and dreamless—found on late-night, peak-hour dance floors.

Take Me Up follows with thick kicks, warm chords, and hi-hats dropping into a classic garage shuffle. A feminine vocal line contrasts with the heavy bassline, pulling the listener between deep rhythmic drive and melodic release. Influenced by DJ Zinc’s crack house era, this track channels the 4x4 garage energy of early DND, Mike Delinquent, and DJ Narrows.

Closing the EP, Maya plays on Funky music’s groove, recalling early Oliver Heldens with organ stabs, skippy basslines, and playful drum shuffles. The bassline melody teases its resolution until the second breakdown, touching on the illusory nature of reality in the moment of experience.
